08 NovInterior Design and Interior Architecture – UC Berkley Extension

The professional interior designer is qualified by education, experience, and examination to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces to improve quality of life; increase productivity; and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. The Certificate Program in Interior Design and Interior Architecture provides an affordable, comprehensive interior design education that combines studio courses with the study of design theory, history, presentation skills, and resources. With this certificate, you can learn from industry professionals and build a comprehensive portfolio to enter the field of interior design.

Who Will Benefit

If you wish to enter the field or advance your existing knowledge base, this certificate provides you with the education and skills required to become a Certified Interior Designer (CID) in the State of California and to qualify for and pass the California Council for Interior Design exam (IDEX) and the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam.

Prerequisites for Admission

International students in the Certificate Program in Interior Design and Interior Architecture must have a bachelor’s degree.

The curriculum consists of 22 required courses for a total of 61 semester units (933 hours of instruction). Courses may have prerequisites; see course descriptions.

This certficate can be completed in three years.
